Been playing with my MXT Pro now for a couple of months and I like more and more each time I use it.

Today I cranked the gain to nearly +3 and turned the threshold down till it went silent. I hunted with this setup for a while, found a few coins and the machine seemed to behave fine. Went to another site close by and it started to chatter some so I turned the gain down some and turned the threshold up a bit to just at silent. Again it acted just fine and found more coins.

When I got home I air tested this setup against my normal setup (gain just past the preset and thresh at low hum) and found it to be a slightly "deeper" .
I prefer the silent searching. Am I missing something by silent searching w/high gain as long as my machine is stable?

You might be missing the whisper targets that can barely break the threshold when running silent search without threshold, the threshold is what makes the MXT a deeper detector than the M6. HH
