Balancing the White's 3vi

I am still learning about my 3vi metal detector. My question is the programs that are preset when you get it will that program be set with balance? Is balancing automatic? Been watching YouTube about the detector and one guy balances his all the time by pulling the trigger and I think the menu button at the same time and moving it up and down till a continuous hum
