Minelab Xterra Elite, User input requested :)

Just got the used Minelab Xterra Elite in from Richard at Backwoods Metal Detectors. Unit as described, smooth, friendly transaction, so I can recommend Richard for your used detector purchase as well 😊

Learning how to use the machine now.

For the experienced Elite users, I have a couple of questions:

• Do you keep a low, audible threshold or do you keep the threshold on 0? Does this make any difference in depth or separation?
• Do you keep the horseshoe / all metal on or off? Why?
• Do you keep the tone break for any mode at factory default setting, or have you changed this, and if so, why did you change this?
• Ground Balance, leave at factory preset 0, manually balance or auto/tracking balance? NorCal, gold country soil here.

For starters I did a factory reset, sensitivity on 19, and then put the iron bias at 0, recovery speed at 2 and using 5 tones, so I don’t get overwhelmed. I did this for the park and field programs.

Have not touched the beach settings since I won’t be doing that anytime soon.

Have the 12” on now but have a 10” coming as I feel that might be just the ticket for me, a good in between the 8” and 12”.
