I was finally able to get in a good metal detecting hunt yesterday with a friend. I recovered a 1899 Barber quarter, 1903 Barber dime, 1891 Indian head penny, 2 Buffalo nickels 1917 and a no date one, several Wheat pennies, an old flat button which dates very old. the remains of an old lock, and old copper bracelet, an old good luck charm, and an old model t valve stem cover. The quarter, dime, one Buffalo nickel, Indian head, and one Wheat were all found near an old stream in a pasture field within about a 10 foot circle in about 15 minutes time. The only place in the whole pasture field where we found any coins. Several of these artifacts were found in a previous hunt. Any help on dating the old flat button would be appreciated. It was found at a permission that still has a log cabin built in the 1700's and a stone house built in the early 1800's. The back mark is almost gone and I can only read Warranted on it. The penny is for a size reference. Happy hunting and good luck out there. Congrats on a great hunt!!! Love them Barbers:icon_thumleft:

Obviously you are back in Pennsylvania if you're digging around log cabins built in the 1700s :laughing7:
Congrats on the coins. Without knowing the back mark, I would date your flat button anywhere between 1815 and 1840.

Now that’s a good day of hunting. Nice finds. Congrats

Nice old coin shooting...cool Barber Quarter! :occasion14:

Thanks Steve. Yes I am back in Pa. I have done several hunts without many keepers until this couple of hunts. Thanks on the info on the flat button. The only thing I can make out is Warranted.

I didn't find it. I checked and rechecked the hole thinking it should be there, but no luck.

Thanks Dirtlooter. It's been a dry spell since getting back from Arizona, but maybe this is the turning point.

Awesome job brother! Those Barber quarters are always a welcome site! Congrats on the handful of old coins there.

Thank you, It was a nice hunt.

Oh no! He’s back in PA scooping up keepers. At least you gave us a chance for some finds in the winter and spring when you were on your partial hiatus. Love the finds, keep it coming, congrats!

Woah! What a haul. You did good. I rarely get the chance to hunt by old streams but that’s a good tip for the back pocket. Keep after it!

Thank you. I do like my winters in Arizona, but it's always good to get on home turf.

It was kind of a surprise, but I can picture kids playing there in the stream way back when because we did the same thing. Thanks Washingtonian.
