I was finally able to get in a good metal detecting hunt yesterday with a friend. I recovered a 1899 Barber quarter, 1903 Barber dime, 1891 Indian head penny, 2 Buffalo nickels 1917 and a no date one, several Wheat pennies, an old flat button which dates very old. the remains of an old lock, and old copper bracelet, an old good luck charm, and an old model t valve stem cover. The quarter, dime, one Buffalo nickel, Indian head, and one Wheat were all found near an old stream in a pasture field within about a 10 foot circle in about 15 minutes time. The only place in the whole pasture field where we found any coins. Several of these artifacts were found in a previous hunt. Any help on dating the old flat button would be appreciated. It was found at a permission that still has a log cabin built in the 1700's and a stone house built in the early 1800's. The back mark is almost gone and I can only read Warranted on it. The penny is for a size reference. Happy hunting and good luck out there. Thanks, Tommy. As they say even a blind hog finds an acorn sooner or later. Extremely lucky on these finds.

Great hunt! 3 years ago I found a model T valve stem cover just like yours.

Thanks to TNet, it was identified here.
