✅ SOLVED Bardsley Bros and a small button

I was going through a jar of old finds and came across these pieces that I could use help in identifying.
The first piece has "manufactured By Bardsley Bros New York" on the front and the back is blank. The button has "chess" twice on the back and appears to have some type of material sandwiched between the inner and outer metal parts.
Any help with either is greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure your 4-hole button doesn't say CHESS... it says GUESS... and Guess is a clothing line. I'll "guess" your button is from some Guess pants, or some other article of clothing that uses 4-hole buttons. Might be one on the bluejeans here:

If you use the Magnifier function, you can see the waist-closure button says "GUESS".
