Barn pic is outstanding. Why do they have a fence around that tree? Keep the cattle off of it, maybe? Just a guess.

Thanks RGINN. The fence is to keep cattle off it. This farm raises Black Angus beef cattle, and tasty ones at that.

I'm glad I was right about the fence around the tree. After I said it, I thought 'those folks are gonna think you've lost your mind'. Pays off in small ways sometimes to have grown up in the country. Like the barn pic. It looks like what I would imagine that part of the country to look like.

Yep, beautiful barn pic. I don't recall ever seeing that elaborate of a barn on rocky, steep-looking ground. What is/was it used for? Now, the fence around the tree pic. Out here I've seen people protecting trees from horses but not cattle. My guess would have been a burial site. There is a place near me where 2 very young children are buried. The spot doesn't even look as fancy as that board fence; it's just some barbed wire wrapped around a few trees with 2 wooden, severely weathered markers. Thanks for sharing

Thanks PB. I don't know the history of the barn but I will try to find out. You guys have my curiosity up now. As you pointed out the barn is on one crazy piece of terrain, I have to go back to get a pic from the other side where the ground really drops off. This farm currently raises Black Angus beef cattle, heritage hogs and free-range chickens so I have to presume it is to keep the cattle away (probably all animals in reality though).

There still are a lot of places like this around here but as with other areas we lose one every so often, and once gone they never return.
