I noticed that the utility company had cleared out a 300’ swath of trees behind a cellar hole I had been hitting for the last couple of years. Headed over after dinner and detected the area for a couple of hours. Nothing like having a big area of old woods cleared down to dirt.

Nice high tone.

My best Civil War button.

Here is the handful from under the power lines.

Also made it back to the old site that gave up a bunch of Colonial goodies last week.

This piece is different, not sure if it was a button or something else.

And a mystery item at the power line spot, could be 1800’s old or from the power line.

Good luck out there!

Awesome finds!! Congrats!

PA... your pin item is called "seeing eye"... and definitely masonic.

And I think this may fall into the "royal arch" category... but ?

Cool finds. Your spoon is Alvin's 'Winchester' pattern, designed by Frederick Kaupmann in 1917.

Wide range of relics you dug up. Liking the mitt picture of the great looking tap. Congrats on the recoveries
The one item with the 3 stems I have seen before-but can't recall what it is/was for-bugging me now...

You dug all sorts of goodies! I have a few spots i would love for something like this to happen to open it up

Nice group of relics Thad. That is a heavy duty barrel tap. Love the seeing eye Masonic piece.
I remember how a silver spoon was on your bucket list for a long time. Once you got the first one, the floodgates seemed to open :laughing7:

Thanks for the insight, very interesting. You’ve got me googling searching for more info.

Awesome ID! I couldn’t find the pattern last night.

Thx! I think this is my first full barrel tap. The emi from the high power lines is a challenge and this big piece of brass sounded like a small target, was really surprised when the tap popped out. The mystery item has the look of a Model T radiator cap which we seem to find fairly often. This is much smaller.

Thx Steve! I wonder if the seeing eye piece is period with the KGs and tombacs found at that dot or if it was a later drop. Yeah, it took me a few years and a hundred or so plated spoons before my first solid silver one. It was the first target of the night and confirmed that the cleared area had some promise. I just need to head back there the next time there is a power outage...

I forgot to mention that Eagle A is really nice considering the ground around here.

Awesome Saves, all kinda of time periods there.

Nice finds Thad.

The spoon is a nice keeper for sure. Hard to find sterling.

That Eagle A is a nice one.

Hope to get out this weekend with you guys and hit some sites.

Jer

...the mystery item reminds me of a “check valve” from pitcher pump. It keeps the pump from loosing its prime. It goes on the bottom of the cylinder, It gets pulled open from the pump action up, and than seals the water in, with gravity and on the down stroke..

A very productive hunt congrats.

I’ve never had a hunt that good You got a little bit of everything beautiful spoon and everything else. Congratulations

amazing finds, cleaned up so nicely, way to go
