I live in the upstairs of our old family house. I generally rise very early in the morning. About 0600 this morning my best buddy cat was meowing, or rather chirping that something was going on, so I looked around the chimney over towards my bed and in the dawn light and saw this on my window :)

My little buddy really thought this was cool.

Eeeeeewwwww! A winged rat. Heebie jeebies! Big time! Is that on the inside?

Uh, not a good night time companion. Got a hole somewhere? How'd you remove it?

It's on the outside between the window and screen. That screen has suffered with time - the bat can get in and out. In fact, it's still there. I don't hurt critters.

Don't play with it. They carry rabies.

Just put a bat house out under the eave and he/she will bring along a few other friends and hopefully they will keep down the mosquito numbers.

Check your neck for 2 red marks!

Good guard kitty!

Tuna reward required!

Funny you should say that! He's got a bowl of tuna & water right beside his dry food :)

And Tom, my neck does kinda itch.... I'll give it a couple weeks and if I start drooling I'll want to drive down your way for a hunt :)

As for putting up a bat house, I'm afraid of heights and it's pushing 30 feet up!

I watched all of the Dracula movies, I am sure that I can cure you!

I had a bat in my house once. It was freaked out flying all around and I opened the front door and it immediately latched onto the screen door. I'll never forget the way it looked at me. It was squeaking at me like please, please, please, let me out. I swug open the screen door and off it went.

Ah, my window was only a daytime motel for the little fellow. He left just shortly after darkness set in. He's welcome anytime - as long as he's on the outside!
