Congrats on the Mercs & the lovely Walker! On our beaches, I've dug some nice jewelry & many modern coins, but my only older coin was a wheatie, lol. Still, that single wheatie made my day. HAVE FUN! Andi

Great finds. I'm an in-lander so maybe I just don't understand about finding coins at the beach. I've hunted a few beaches but only found recently lost coins. Wouldn't coins that have been there for some time (like more then 5 or 10 year) be completely worn down from the sand? Or is my mistake that I am assuming all beaches have sand?

Great finds. I'm an in-lander so maybe I just don't understand about finding coins at the beach. I've hunted a few beaches but only found recently lost coins. Wouldn't coins that have been there for some time (like more then 5 or 10 year) be completely worn down from the sand? Or is my mistake that I am assuming all beaches have sand?

You would think they would be really worn but that's the way we keep finding them. Usually they don't come up nice and shiny like they do in the woods or in some field usually pretty tarnished. They moved a lot of sand deep, added some hard base material and filled it back in turning up some old coins. My buddy found a real nice 1922 silver dollar. Also found a bunch of Mercs and a couple barber dimes amongst a few other old coins
