I'm sure Marc just wanted to plant the notion that everyone should hunt those beaches, "with a fine toothed comb" so they don't miss any spectacular finds. :laughing7:

Perhaps, Marc wanted us to broaden our horizons in what we look for while hunting. Not all treasure is metal...

Beach Combing? :icon_scratch:

Thanks for bringing this up...I don’t post here a lot but I do read here every day.

All I got to say is that beach combing is walking around on the beach eye balling finds. Metal detecting the beach deserves its own place. Or are we gonna start talking about drift wood types and rare sea glass here too?

My 2 cent.

forum seems to be changing in alot of ways ::)

I noticed the "beach combing" change too and thought this section had been downgraded for some reason. :icon_scratch:

Keep your eyes open for those sea beans all you Beach Combers.

Yeah, I dont think "Beach Combing" is an accurate description.

"Ring Mining" would be more appropriate imo

Beach Combing is for types that are looking for bales of Hemp washed up on the coast or sea beans or pretty shells. I liked the Beach & Shallow water better as Divers have their own section. >:(

Bales of hemp...... ;D

Hey I was thinking that since nobody seems to want to post their gold finds anymore, The site owner had no choice but to change the name of this section. :laughing7:

I was a bit confused. I saw the Beach Combing forum, clicked it and read some. then I used my book mark for Beach and shallow water clicked it and thought I did something wrong!
Beach Combing is ok so long as they make a shallow water forum as well!

I will post mine.......when I find them..

I was going hunting today, but woke up this moring at 4am sick with somwthing, pick up a bug somewhere....^&#&^%%$&#&&#$#

Bales =square grouper

Most beaches are bald. I liked it better the other way.

if we are in this thread is about "beach comb" (rake to find gold chains), then I'm doing them (2 years) and sell (1 year).
do 2 types of "beach comb": 1) the distance between the teeth of 87mm (3.4 ")" Standard Version 8 teeth.
2) distance between the teeth of 56mm (2.2 ") version of the "meanie" 12 teeth for clean places
Height of teeth 110mm, length 600mm ,the weight 2-2,5 kg (also can heavier rake soil or lead, this is a special cavity).
fully collapsible stainless construction, built using the screwdriver for 5 minutes.
I usually apply them there where they found the crosses, icons, zodiac signs .... a chain device is not found here, in this case need beach rake.
I also check at the request or hint where friends were lost gold chains.
Although many hunters who have purchased my "beach comb" just scoured the coastal trough after the first autumn storms.
at locations with high salinity is the only way to catch a thin gold chain.
Here is a topic about the Russian site, if anyone interested http://www.reviewdetector.ru/index.php?showtopic=24381
PS: Sorry if once told inaccurately,
do not speak English perfectly, I have a native Russian and Ukrainian.
PSS: photo ''beach comb" will not...

"Beach combing".......... :icon_scratch:.......I don't know, sort of makes the beach sound like a well groomed place, like perhaps we're talking about a method used by landscapers. "....And our top story today, the state has hired landscapers to recomb the area beaches after last week's hurricane." :laughing7:
