Howdy T-netters! Went to St Augustine Beach first and got off to a slow start. Believe the beach had been dredged. Found a dime and nickel after a while. Then, about thirty feet into the water fished out a huge costume ring. Just after that, Mr. Crabs made his appearance. He had one eye, so I assume he lost his eye patch.....lol. Found about a one inch shark tooth on the way out. Good enough for a necklace piece to wear for shark week down here.

Hit the road about 10 miles south to Matanzas Inlet. Would love to find artifacts from the battle that took place nearby in the late 1500s between Jean Ribault's French vs the Spaniards, but the south end of this inlet is about the closest I will ever get without a fishing boat. Left the phone in the car, so the videos suffered. Right after I balanced my detector I got a crazy good hit a half inch down. The guy I was talking to when I was booting up again believes it to be a meteorite. Hope it is. I like to find odd, uncommon items. My son found several starfish (Patrick's family) and large shells, to include a very small conch shell. Not a bad days work. Please watch my videos on youtube under Wild WildBill/St Augustine Beach and Matanzas Inlet and let me know if you think I may have found a meteorite. Enjoy! HH!

There are definitely some initials "LRN" on the side of my find. It does look somewhat like a heart and you can see some residue left over on the back from mounting. My eyesight is terrible.....somebody else spotted this. Also, looked it up and several pics shows similar meteorites. Two weekends in a row now that I've recovered someone else's treasure.

Not a meteorite

If not, then what you think it is? Who would go through the trouble of having it initialed and mounted. It put off one hell of a signal. Enlighten me.....

PROBABLY something that got thrown in a beach fire or was already there and maybe beach fire was made on top of it ???

That doesn't explain anything of the initials on it and the heart shape appearance. This site needs virtual reality capabilities....lol. It's not aluminum, ferrous, or magnetic. A select few meteorites are magnetic, most are not.

I don't know what it is Bill, but it is not a meteorite. The vast majority of meteorites ARE magnetic. A few are not. I've been hunting meteorites for many years and found more than my share - and what you found is a "meteorwrong." :skullflag:

C'mon Terry, you still haven't said what makes it NOT a meteorite. I'm sure it's not a fake meteorite. Shows up an awesome signal on my detector. Maybe it is, and your rocks are "meteorwrongs". If you hunt something for years doesn't make you an expert. I've had four people look at it and said they think it is a meteorite. I just don't believe any pics do it justice.

Sorry Bill, you MUST be right. Good luck to you!

I can say this - at the Delmar shipwreck museum - guy there has at least 2 that are not magnetic - one is nickle and a few other precious metals and the other is mainly platinum
he says NASA has been trying to get them from him for years - if you are from Fla. - maybe you can take it to NASA sometime and have some one there take a look
if you found down line from shuttle explosion - could be something molten from it possibly? others have found molten pieces - I did myself

I'm about to solve this mystery once and for all. Just ordered a rare earth magnet! Will have it in about a week.

I see crap rock like that wash up all the time in New Jersey. It looks like asphalt. I do think you're onto something with that ring though...

If you look closely you'll see it on Zena's hand!ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1464052430.850666.webp

Joking aside, I'm glad you got out! Cool Tiger shark teeth man!

That's a cool concept and all, but if you read my post there is some important info. Why would someone stamp or engrave their initials onto a piece of asphalt? I don't have a Minelab that detects asphalt. My White's picked it up at a 85, 90 signal. I also said it appears to have been mounted to something.

I would like to revise then: I think it's a meteorite with alien etchings.

No offense, but your photos are terrible.....and sideways?? There has to be some sun in Florida to give you some good lighting for your photos. Good luck with your id though the odds are against it being a meteorite.
