I'd like to go do a little detecting this week at a beach in Maine while I'm up there. I have an ace 250. Anything in particular I should be careful of? I'm obviously not going in the water, but along the low tide shore line. Any help would be much appreciated, I don't want to ruin my machine, I just got it!

There is enough tips to fill a couple books about beach hunting. Start by visiting http://thegoldenolde.com

Every item you collect, even the best ring you ever saw, don't admire it there and just slip it into your pouch like it was another piece of trash. You never know who is watching you.

Retrieving items from sand is much easier when you use a sand scoop with a screen for sifting.

Use "jewelry" mode and dig everything
Turn the sensitivity down in the wet sand until falsing is minimal
Use sensitivity level 6 in the dry sand as the machine works very well there
Hunt areas that draw the vacation crowds, especially along the towel and beach chair lines
Don't let saltwater get near the housing!
Good luck
