I got the Minelab digital meter I won on EBay for the new Sov GT in the mail on Thurs, the New Sov GT arrived on Friday, and the WOT on Saturday. (Fantastic timing).
I met Sterling and his wife last night at Daytona, and Sterling brought his Sovereign so he could give me a quick run through. Since I already use an Excal, I am use to Minelabs tones and had no problem with the SOV.
I have to say, although I did not find any jewelry last night
, only coins, that I love the way the Sovereign handles especially with the WOT. It is well balanced, the rich tones it produces is great, and with the WOT coil it goes d-e-e-p. I was digging coins so deep, at first I thought what the heck is going on as I continued to dig deeper for the target.
I use a harness for all my units, and the WOT and SOV combo is no problem as far as weight goes either. I swung it last night for 4.5 hours and my arm was not sore then or this morning.
I quickly found that pinpointing is a breeze with the SOV and WOT combo, once I hit a target I used the same trick Sandman told me about on the Excal and it works great. Find a target, back up the coil and slowly move forward, the target will be directly below the front edge of the WOT as soon as the target responds with the loud tone, it worked every time for me last night.
I hunted with Sterling and his lovely wife Earline last night, I really enjoyed it, we got separated when they decided to take a break and I was still like a kid with a new toy. I know the last I talked to them Sterling had found a Merc, and Earline had a nice silver and turquoise mans bracelet. Great couple, but if your going to hunt with Sterling and Earlene, get in front of her, as there will not be any targets left once she goes through.
My grand total last night was no jewelry
, but $4.89 in coins.
I had a great time and beach hunting is still the greatest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
