beachfinds 12-24-07, lead, silver & gold
Headed to an old stomping ground of mine yesterday in the pouring rain, climbed up icey embankments by holding onto tree roots with my detector balancing on my shoulder. The narrow hunting area was covered with a frozen snow that made for slippery walking. With a good 20ft drop and certain injury to the right, a quick moving stream down the embankment to the left, I got absolutely sh*tskunked, I dug two worthless targets in 2 hrs through the snow.
Today however was different. I hit the beach this morning instead.
13quarters, 9 nickels, 29 dimes, 20 pennies
2 dateless wheats, a 58 jefferson, 1 canadian penny
12 sinkers & one Hopkins lure
1 - sterling silver Ankh charm
1 - 925 silver ring with what I think is a garnett
1 - 925 Italian silver necklace
1 - 14k gold butterfly charm
The gold charm read a +08 on my dfx and was pretty much getting discriminated out in my tweaked beach setting. I dug it anyway as there was absolutely no trash. Good thing I did, nothing like a little gold in the scoop shining in the sunlight.
The silver necklace and ring need a good cleaning.
