Beautiful Colonial Cuff Button Found At The Shore

I hit the beach today and dug plenty of jewelry...all fake! I should have picked a more upscale beach! But I did dig a cuff button that looks to be colonial. Normally I would dismiss a button this clean as a modern button, but I have seen old sea brass and copper coins that look amazingly clean after being tumbled in the sand for 200 years. I guess it is similar to a mechanical galvanizing procedure.

I do not see the tell tale mold seam that modern buttons have, and it appears to be abraded from years in the sand. There is also a small stress crack visible on the front. The shank appears to be a colonial type. What do you think?
