So it's 11am here in central California, and our little 3 day rain storm has finally stopped last night. No work today, so I'm out at the old park on a hunt. I'm still here now. About 30 minutes into the search, nothing but clad and pulltabs and more junk....then I get a solid 58/59 signal and think, "oh boy, a 2015 nickel!" I dig down a whole 2 inches and I see the gold rim! Out pops this beauty! Looks vintage. Stamped 14K

There's a little bend in the band and looks like it had a smaller side stone that's now missing. Any ideas what that center rock is? It's a light blue. Maybe a birth stone or something. I dunno. I'm not rockhound expert ;) lemme know what y'all think!

I'm hoping for another post soon! I'm not done today!!! HH

Maybe Blue Topaz? Congrats on the GOLD! :occasion14:

Fantastic that park is always going to have more goodies to give.

Tanzanite maybe?
This was a popular stone to use on gold settings a few years ago.
Nice ring though.

Aquamarine IMO.

Very nice ring. You're right, it does have a vintage look to it - Those are m:icon_thumright:y favorites!

Beautiful ring! :icon_thumright:
nice solid signal, right?
My GBPro rang similar numbers on a heavy gold ring I found recently - hey, its better than a NICKEL, right?!

send me the ring so I can have a closer look

Pretty ring.

It's more fun to pretend it's a rare blue diamond and not an aquamarine.

57 millon dollar blue diamond.

Hey thanks! Yeah I dig all 50s signals even though most of them are can slaw and old pull tabs. However, this one stayed 58/59 so I was almost positive it would be a nickel. I'm glad I was wrong!! Gold is always more fun than a nickel lol.

I'd think Aquamarine as well. Tanzanite is more purple, for sure. Aquamarine doesn't have much value, but it's a nice stone!

You all were correct: it is aquamarine. That was my guess also once I really looked at it. I figured it was birthstone....but a rare diamond is always in the back of our minds lol. I went to my jeweler to have them check it out just to make sure and it's just over 4 grams of 14K gold and an aquamarine stone. Not worth a lot, but I love the style.

I think it is missing 1 stone you might want to see if its in the hole still.

Great job I also found gold it was rainy and 40 degrees but loved every minute of it good deal like the stone also. If you dig lots of nickels you will be digging rings as well. Thanks for sharing your find!!!!

Yeah it is missing a side stone. I looked around for it but couldn't find it. It was at the base of a palm tree and the root balls on those trees are disgusting!! I'm surprised I even got the ring out haha

Yes I agree! Nickels pull tabs and gold rings all have the same ID. I've figured out about for every 300 pulltabs and 50 nickels I dig, I get one gold ring. That's about the odds lol.
