Saturday I met a new friend (Micah) and we went door knocking. First house we stopped at we got permission, I was getting no deep signals at all, no wheats, nothing. Then I get this 8" deep signal 09-47, dig down and see a black quarter, I say to myself "ah come on, not a clad quarter".....I pull it out and can see the eagle on the back, sweet! it's not clad its a black SLQ!
This thing was pure black, even after rinsing it. So I gave it three 45 second electolysis treatments, the black just rolled off, I think it turned out pretty well! What do you think it would grade at??

That was the best find of the day, another yard I got 2 mercs and a wheat, and another yard I got a merc couple wheats and an indian, the buckles were in the backyard at one of the places...lol Not sure what the little shield is? It says S and A on both sides. Great weather and hunting with a new friend, can't beat that!

My uncle brought home stuff like that little shield from the Phillipines after wwii. Hand carved wood and intricate. Must be worth something because after mom died, my sister took them all when we split up the house.

Nice, Nice, and Very Nice.

WOW wow WOW wow WOW wow WOW ~ NICE FINDS MAN!! WOOHOO!!!

What a good day you had! Inspires me to get out this week despite some aches here & there, lol. Congrats! Andi

Great looking finds! The SLQ is Beautiful! Just to have the date on one is great, but that one is in Awesome shape! Way to go! :icon_thumright:

The D makes it even better. Since it was cleaned it's worth about $50.

I do not sell any of my silver coins, but I bet you, on ebay if I listed it It would bring $125-$150....go ahead and look on ebay at ones in comparable shape. Electrolysis merely removed the black coating, the original patina is still there. What I did was restore the coin, but hey think what you want, your entitled to your opinion!

Judging by your photos, I'd say the SLQ would grade a VF35 or XF40. You'd have to inspect with a loupe to nail it down closer. That buckle with the grapes is killer!
