Beginner's Luck?

First of all I want to say what an amazing site this is! Looking at all the stuff you guys find makes me want to do nothing but go out and search. I'v eonly been detecting now for about three weeks. I wanted to share these finds with you. I was detecting in the woods and after about an hour, in the same hole I found this Barber quarter and Barber dime along with a badly corroded Indian head penny and two wheat pennies. I found a Mercury dime around the same location about a week before! What a cool hobby! I think it would be fascinating to know how these things get there! Just wanted to share. Hopefully I'll be able to share much more in the future!

WOW! BIG question for you...what were the dates on the wheat cents you found buried with these Barbers?

This is very important! Thanks much!

The dates on the wheats were not legible. I have them soaking in olive oil and hope to be able to idetify them sometime in the future. The IH I found, all I could make out was the first three characters - 190?.

Re: Beginner's Luck?

nice finds just starting out, and I agree this site makes you wnat to quit your job and hunt full time.

Those dates could be of great value in the discussion about how long Barber types were in circulation.

Hope they will show dates.

Nice finds,

Finding old silver like that is exciting. It would be nice to go back in time fro a moment and see how items were lost. Alot of the time I get a glimpse of how something was lost for about 10 seconds.

I can see someone sitting down pulling a pipe out for a smoke. And a old coin go flying with it. Check those woods over good.

Re: Beginner's Luck?

Sounds like it is more than beginners luck. You have also gotten the knack of operating your detector. It looks like you may be on to an old picnic grove. I'm sure there is more there. Slow down and listen for those faint signals. Good luck....Steve
