Bell? With rock inside

Hello was out detecting with a friend today in duxbury mass and he found this bell. Never seen one like this before and it has a rock inside of it. Any info on this would be appreciated

The rock I would think is an iron ball that's become really rusty....cool bell for sure

Yah yah...crotal bell,sleigh bell,horse bell....that’s a cool one! Iron ball inside to make noise sounds about right. Is there a number on the bottom?
