Once upon a time, I was a regular poster here; boy those were the days, finding several silvers and a handful of wheats every day. Now, I don't get out much; baseball takes most of my "free" time. I had a little time after doing some work today, so I visited a vacant lot down the street where I've had permission for several years. The best coin out of here was an 1831 Bust half dollar, with a Barber half, quarter and dime as runners-up. Today, my first find was a 57D wheat, one of the few I've pulled here with a surviving date. The older ones have most of the details corroded away. The next good signal indicated a shallow quarter, which I doubted; I thought maybe it was a crushed soda can. No, it was a long lost fighter from the WWII era. It's a Hubley Kiddie-Toy, and it brought to mind a program I just saw on the Bermuda Triangle. Perhaps the most famous disappearance there was a flight of 5 Avengers and maybe, just maybe, this is one of them
. I've been doing some research on topographical maps, so hopefully the old finds will be part of my life in the future.
