What's new

Besides the listed, is there anything unconventional or weird that you've found that's reusable?

ooo. hope you had gloves on. I also had a compass for drawing circles point up. When reached in the hole it got me. Luckily I had good gloves to prevent an injury.

When I was around 9 years old I found a $50 bill in the vacant corner lot we played baseball on, that was in the 60s and was a whole lot of money at that time, of course my father put it to good use, he was a widower raising 8 kids!!

In my adult life I have found paper money more than once, once outside our local bar I found $430 with a blue rubber band wrapped around the bills, I walked into the bar and there just happen to be a guy at the bar who had just ordered some drinks and he was turning his pockets inside out and freaking out, apparently he had lost his paycheck money, I ask him how much money he lost and he said a little over $400 but couldn't be sure exactly because he had spent some after cashing his check, I asked him was it in a wallet and he confirmed it had a blue rubber band around it, I returned the money to him and he was so happy, he said I just saved his life because if I hadn't found and return it his wife would've KILLED him!!

Wow crazy story. I believe you did the right thing there. Lucky he had an elastic band on the money. Good for you!

Paper money, flashlight, tools. I have found 2 fairly large sums of money. One was on a street I was driving down and I spotted the envelope with "green" showing thru the plastic window. I backed up and picked it up and it contained $400. Another time I was walking into a very large Gun / Sporting Goods store and as I held the door for my wife, I followed her thru the first set of doors I looked to my right and saw a rolled up (like a cigarette) band of money. I just picked it up and put it in my pocket. I then went to the service desk and asked if anyone had come to them and asked if anyone had turned in some cash. They said no, so I posted a note on the bulletin board stating that I had found some cash in the store and they could call me to identify the amount. No one called after 3 months so I went back to take the note down, and kept the cash. it was $700. In both cases, there were no identification marks on either batch of cash. I have returned many wallets and purses in my day, but this was fair game I guess.

People lose so much stuff. That's a large sum of money for sure! If there's no ID what can you do right?
Ya, I've found a ladies wallet with a fair bit of money and change in it once. I found it sitting in the bread section at a big grocery store. Since nobody was around I asked the store manager if someone had lost a wallet today. They said no and took my information down. The wallet had a driver's license with an address in which I went directly to their home. Sadly, it was an apartment that had key access only. So back to the store I went, to figure something out. When I talked again to the store manager, they said a lady left her phone number. So I got to call her and finally return it. Phew! A month later I had a FedEx box show up at my house with an Air Fryer in it. I think it had something to do with the returned wallet.

I found a nice rod and reel at the river a few months ago. The reel was nicer than mine so I switched to it. It’s been working great.

'Reuseable', for sure: Last week, I found two--one hundred dollar bills on a sidewalk while doing my (almost) daily 2.2 mile walk.
The next day I found a plain envelop marked $700 in the bushes nearby.
Each day I continue to look hard in that area for the other bills--but no luck
I gave the bills to my wife--to offset a grocery bill of $170
She then 'allowed' me to go to Krispy Kreme the following day--on her !!
Don in SoCal.
