Best box of halves in a while

1- 1976 no mint mark silver keeper

nice score with the '64 and all the 40%ers but unfortunately only the '76 S coins are silver. I actually found my first '76 S silver half (I'm fairly certain it's silver) last week when I had that nice score on Fri.

I'll get my first garda box tomorrow (hopefully) and I hope my box is this good.

I swear this 1976 with no mint mark is silver, it looks and sounds right. I am going to take it to a coin shop to see if they can confirm

Unfortunately, some clad coins end up looking silver. I found a quarter that looks as silver as you can imagine; not a hint of copper in the rim. (Others here have reported finding similar quarters.) And yet the mint mark and other tests show and coin dealers say it's not silver.

I think what happens is that the nickel covers up all traces of the copper. Never seen it before on a half, though I have heard of people spray-painting the sides to trick their fellow CRHers.

I actually just found another '76 S half in a box I got today. I can't tell for sure but I think this coin is probably clad. Maybe the best way to tell for sure would be to weigh it. I've been meaning to get me a scale for a while but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
