:icon_scratch: coins 2 002.webpI have been working an old house site that burned down some 40 yrs ago. Dug a lot of trash, nails and other junk. I wascoins 2 001.webp about to give up on this site, then it was coin after coin.
1885 mogan dollar
1850 large cent
1912 v nickle
1906 dime
1898 indian head penny
The photo at the top is what I need I.D., I'm not a coin person.
this coin as roman numbers III on back,a lady with a crown or somethig and the date is I belive 1865. It is hard to tell due to the burn marks. Any idea on how to clean them would be great.

I need a better pic and date would help ,I think it is a 'bust' halve 1796-1839 ,just a guess

3 cent piece, what kind of back does it have I can give you more information on them that way, if you an post a picture of the back that would e great! Nice finds by the way

Never mind, there should be a wreath around the. Roman numeral 3 on the back, they made 11,382,000 in 1865, made 75 percent copper 25 percent nickel, it's worth about 30$ in that condition

wow, what a great day

Nice variety of coins. Love the big silver, and 3 cent nickles aren't found very often, usually the silver trimes are. :icon_thumleft:

They must have been in something because the condition looks more non dug than dug.

Amazing day - I'd be camping on that site for a while ! in my estimation the three cent nickle is the find of the day
but as was previously mentioned , I love the variety of US "type" coins !

you are right there is a wreath, got ant ideas on how to clean them, I have tried silver cleaner and a gen. cleaner. The black just want come off.

Maybe try a toothbrush with just some hot water and soap, don't scrub too hard, just enough to get that off

I have already done that before I took photos. There is a small trace of so type of plastic on them, I was thinking they may have been in some type of hard plastic case ??????

Very nice coin day for sure!:treasurechest: Still working on finding my first silver dollar here not giving up yet :hello2:

That my friend is a 3 cent nickel and they are hard to come by! Some people call them thrimes or thrickles... Lol... Here is one I found a few days ago!!!

Great finds! Good job getting through all the trash and sticking it out to find the good stuff! I've been learning more and more that patience and determination pays off in this hobby (addiction). Get rid of all the trash and voila' here come the real targets! Sometimes I wonder if when someone tells you a site is "hunted out" maybe that just means other considerate members of the same hobby have already come along and removed all the iron and aluminum crap making your hunt that much easier!

Congrats of the cool finds!

Any silver is a great day & you did awesome! :icon_thumleft:

nice mix of finds. That soil was good to those coins... exceptionally rare to see them come out that clean. Nice haul.
