I've been hunting a spot lately that has had such a variety of stuff, and today was the best yet. The highlight was my oldest coin yet which was also my first Seated Liberty, an 1855 w/Arrows dime in VG condition. Also found a 1925 Mercury dime.

This looks like and old Art Deco hood ornament

Some bits and pieces, plus an old copper brooch and what looks like a match safe?

Some more bits and pieces and a bullet. I wonder if the round things might be grommets from a CW-era tent...? They're definitely grommets at any rate.

Hard to see, but this first thing is actually a very cool item. It says "MEMBER CAPTAIN TIM'S IVORY STAMP CLUB" and has a picture of Captain Tim. It was an ivory soap premium from the 30s. Also this red thing that has a logo with an A and wings. Anybody know what that is? Then some silverplate I found. It was a very fun few hours! Thanks in advance for looking and for any ideas you might have in IDing some of this stuff.

Congrats on you're first seated. That broach is cool. You defiantly found some unique stuff.thanks for sharing.

nice finds, Im digging the art deco hood ornament!:icon_thumright:

Art Deco thing - no idea but interesting.
I think your right on the match safe.
The tarpaulin rings are not likely to be CW IMO.
You had a good day!

Great seated! A seated silver has been a monkey on my back, seems I can find anything but a seated. Congrats and happy hunting!

Looks a fun day with a seated coin and some sweet relics. :hello2: Congrats!! Love the brooch and hood ornament.

Good luck on a return trip.

Thanks for the thoughts, Crusader. Does the match safe look like it might be CW era?

It's kind of a cliche among detectorists, but it was getting close to dark, it was increasingly cold and windy, and I told myself I'd leave after finding one more coin. I was slowly heading back to where I parked the car. And that's when I found the seated dime. I was pretty excited!

I've looked around the net for while trying to get an ID for the hood ornament but have had no luck. I am of the opinion that it is an aftermarket accessory hood ornament that is supposed to mimic the hood ornament of an early 1930's Cadillac. Even back then, people liked to dress up their more common Chevy or Ford to make it a little more fancy or unique.

Thanks, Jewelerguy. Appreciate the effort. I wondered too if it's might not be a hood ornament at all, just a decorative piece that's missing its base. But it probably is a hood ornament. That makes the most sense. If you have any helpful links you could share with me, please do so. Thanks again!

Nice finds! Congrats and HH!

And you didn't break yours like the clown of "Diggers" did. Congrats

isn't Flying A an old old logo

Love the seated dime. The hood ornament looks like an Auburn Phaeton (1932) flying lady. How ever many auto companies used the Flying Lady style ornament in the 30's. Auburn had many differant variations through the 30's. good luck on ID'ing it.

What did he break? I haven't seen that show...

He pulled a hood ornament during one of the shows that was broke. I don't know if he broke it while digging or not. I was just "digging" at the "Diggers" a little.
