I recognized the stone mountain right away! Never seen the Centennial though, looks like its had one heck of a journey!

Yah whats the story on how you found them?? Thats an awesome score in my book... way better than the 2 40%ers I got out of 8 boxes today... lol

EDIT: Wow Look at this mintage info!!

Although the United States Congress authorized 100,000 coins, only approximately 70,000 were struck. Of those, about 5,000 unsold coins were melted. The net mintage was 6,006 of the "2x2" variety and 59,038 of the plain variety. Many of these coins were weakly struck and are difficult to find in higher grades as so many of them circulated.

Even in that shape, that Alabama half is probly worth 40 or 50 bucks AT LEAST. thats a heck of a find

If thats a 2x2 version, its probably worth alot more than 40-50. with a mintage of only 6000.

I cant quite tell in the pics though.

Went to Wells Fargo and teller said they had 200 in halves, and I asked if they had any loose, and they had $190 in rolls and $10 in halves, in an envelope....
All of rolls were skunks and envelope had $9.50 in silver and one clad......
You just never know

It is 2x2. What does that mean???

It is 2 x 2

Looks like somebody tried to cut coin???

Had a very rough life as a coin...not is is rescued

you crushed it today! Awesome job by you

It means (According to the site I linked in my first reply), you have a coin with a mintage of only 6000!! Holy crap

I see 2 listed on ebay... one says mintage of 30,000, other says mintage of 15,000, wikipedia says 6,000... :dontknow::dontknow:

Great find either way... BTW those ebay listings started at 300+

I thought that would be true too, doesnt seem to be a difference in price despite the much lower mintage number. Ebay sold listings, lowest of any alabama half was $46 but this 2x2 is in pretty good shape and went for 86

1921 Alabama Centennial 2x2 Commemorative Half Dollar | eBay

Save it coin collectors are buying them pretty soon the pool of that product will get very shallow. Then new coin collectors are joining the hobby each day so in 10 years it might be worth a lot more. Think about 100 Yeats from now.

Will definitely hold on to it....to bad somebody cut it and ruined value

Nice going on the comms! Living in AL, I've been wanting an Alabama Centennial for some time. I finally got a Stone Mountain half in August at a flea market. It's a shame they both look so rough.

GREAT finds though!

 I found a Alabama commemorative too

Great finds - nothing like finding an old commemorative! Very rare in CRH. Cool coin even with the chop on it. Definitely a keeper!
