I decided to got to the Coon Creek formation in Blue Springs, MS. today after working some overtime. It's been raining a lot here lately and the area was mud city. My boot weighed 10 lbs caked in mud but I didn't mind it at all.

I was only there for about 3 hours but man was it worth every minute. I found a bunch of crabs pieces, coral, sharks teeth, a few lobster tails and the vertebra. Not sure what the vertebra is but my guess is it's the vertebra of a Mosasuar. Anyone else have a guess? I'll be cleaning them tomorrow and I'll add so more picture of everything after I'm done.

Thanks for looking.

Nice hunt probably some more stuff to see once you get that all cleaned up.... I have no idea of the age of the formation your hunting if I pulled that vertebrae up here I would think camel.

The Coon Creek Formation is from the late Cretaceous, about 70 million years old.

Wow.. so what kind of shark tooth is that?

The shark tooth appears to be Squalicorax sp.

That crab is very nice . . . want to trade it?

I think you are right. Message me with what you have to trade.

Very nice finds! I would say the vertebrae is mosasaur; it has the classic reptilian ball - and - socket joint.

That crab is out of this world nice! I find fossils a lot because it's fun for me and the family but I don't know nearly as much about it as you guys. Is it normal (somewhat) to find a whole crab like that? If so I need some help because I absolutely have to find a place to find one. Very cool.

Thanks.

Thanks... In the location I hunt I mostly find just a bunch of pieces but sometimes I'll find some that are intact. I find so many crab pieces that I could glue them together and make a few whole crabs.
