I undestand the Minelab family of gold detectors find most of the gold
on the forums on nuggethunting.com and nuggetshooter.com. I've been
to Lynx and Stanton, AZ but brought VLF's and Explorer. Three trips out
there. Learned a lot but no biggies. At least I learned to pan. lastleg

High end Minelab hands down. 4500; down to the older models in the SD series. Use DD coils
mostly but have a few mono coils also. These detectors will find gold like no others and WAY
deeper.

I have use the Gold Bug, Scorpion, and Lobo. I prefer the SD2000 and GP3500. I have never used the newer 4500. Natch these are mainly for nuggets and the option of having smaller coils for getting between rock is a big help.

Hands down, overall, it would be the Australian Minelab 4500~if you want to shell out about $5.000.00 for it! American Made: Fisher Goldbug2, at around $960.00. Take your choice! :help:

how does the GMT weight in? woud like to hear your advise, thanks much. :)

Oops, I forgot the Whites GMT. It too is a great detector and lots cheaper than the top end Minelabs. Neilo in AU uses his in the gold fields and does well with the GMT.
