best place on the beach???

where on the beach is the best place to detect? I am very new to this and am not sure where to search the beach. Should i be a waters edge at low tide or up where people sunbathe? Also where are the best beaches for detecting in new jersey? please help. thanks

Yeah, Norms site goes on after his death. I knew him too and he was a great guy. Everything about beach hunting is on this site and it would be to long to repeat here when www.thegoldenolde.com/ does it so well.

I was hunting the section of the beach shown in the first pic. I walked for miles on 2 different really separate beaches ( boca and jupiter fl ) with almost no hits. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with my detector a new excalibur, or if I just don't know what I'm doing. I'm not sure if there have been tons of sand dumped on these beaches or not. Thats always a possiblitly down here. At jupiter there was a huge cut though at least 2 ft.
