Hey all,

Yesterday was a physically exhausting day to say the least. We tried to start another old Calvert store dig, but after digging a hole nearly to China to find the original ground level, we decided it was too much work, at this time. So, we went to the old plantation site on the outskirts of Calvert. This time however, we concentrated on an area that was more "modern", probably 1930's ? As usual we found lots of "junque", but some nice finds did appear! 8 hours of pure diggin fun!

Besides the relics shown in the pics, I did manage to also fing a 1928-D buffalo nickel, 1917-S and 1919-D wheat cents.

Junior Fire Marshall ring
nice military button ...says Jeweler's products corp. Providence, R.I. (probably WW1)?
suspender clip
old brass wedding band

Happy Hunting!!!
Rick

Oh yeah, and half a sheriff's badge and ornate woman's buckle too.

It sure did look exhausting, Rick, from Albert's post! Wow, that's a lot of digging!

Glad you were able to find some keepers out of all that dirt! The junior fire marshall ring is really cool!

Congrats,

Nice finds! That junior fire marshall ring is from the Hartford life and fire Insurance Co. .Now known as The Hartford. I found the same one last year in Bloomfield CT. One town over from Hartford. Yours is even cooler being found in Texas.

Thanks John (Ma), DugHoles, Captn_SE, and eggbag for your replies!

Rick

Hey Dennis, say what? SLAVE RING??? Please tell me more!

You were holding out on the gold Gilt Flower buckle, I bet thats a oldie. I dubb that as top relic of the day second only to the ring!

back in the slavery days, when the slaves did get married they used a cheap brass or copper ring as a wedding band
got that information from a episode of Cash and Treasures when she went MDing in So. Carolina

Albert, I didn't show you the buckle? I quess I found it while you were over by the cistern.

That's interesting. I heard too that Civil war soldier's had brass wedding rings also.
