Bicycle Bell or Door Bell?

I am coming up on my first full year of MD. I did a little research of a large brook tributary of a lake that was settled by colonists buying land from Leni lenape Indians. This said I dug a pewter spoon that is a Hanoverian style which dates 1710-1750. The ring may be horse tack. My real puzzlement is the bell top I dug (about 6") can't find out if it is a door bell or bike bell. Most bike bells have a screw or nut on top. Mine is totally clear of this as you can see. Any suggestions are welcomed from you bell experts. I am loving this hobby

Looks to be a door bell. Outside of door would be Victorian design turn knob. This would attach to bell on inside of door. Turn knob outside of door would ring bell. That is the best research I could find today.

I think door bell is rite. Is it brass and how big is it? I have seen several of these, some plane and some real ornate Cool finds. :thumbsup:

it is 2 1/4". It was rusty. I put it in solution of vinegar and salt for 10 min. cleaned with warm water and rubbed in vegetable oil. Cleaned up nice. Thanks for the reply. Going back to the same area tomorrow. The bell hit on a strong 72 on my Fisher F5.
