Hello, you guys inspired this post past couple days with the best of stuff....that said, earlier this year I found my first chert piece, have been very lucky right on my property, and now have a few cool pieces. Here’s the bifurcated base points I’ve located in the cliff overhangs so far. Please add yours to this post, Would love to see the varieties out there. Not sure of chert types, enjoy and thanks ! Are you really thinking Lecroy on that one? I posted two from the site that ole Archie Lecroy got his named after. Bifuracates are some pretty cool points.
Happy Holidays

Hi Richard

I was going by the many examples from the Pennsylvania-Ohio area (farm collections Dick Savage & Gary Fogelman bought/sold). They were typically made on thin, potato chip flakes and were often not symmetrical (were little hafted knives). They sometimes showed silica phytogloss on edges, indicating that they'd been used to harvest grass or reeds.

So maybe they were just a regional subtype. (?)

The MacCorkle point is from my home county in Indiana found about 1990. Nicely serrated and unbroken. Getting to be a scarce type these days to find.
