Big 1700's silver 8 reale an 5 franc in the woods!!!

Hey everyone!!
Today I had a pretty eventful time in the woods to say the least. It was simply one of those days of MDing that can never be forgotten. So, I decided to hit a cellar that I've detected many times before. As I was on the old road going up to the hole, for some reason or another, I decided to stop at a foundation that I thought for sure I cleaned out. Well needless to say, I hadn't!!! 5 minutes after turning on my T2 I got a screaming 95 vdi next to a rotten stump. I flipped over my SHALLOW plug and out popped this beautiful holed 1799 8 Reale :headbang: After performing a happy dance, I scanned the hole to hear another very high tone.(this is when I started filming with my phone) After digging a little more, Bam!, an 1811 5 Francs coin. Needless to say I didn't even go to my cellar hole but instead I gridded the area where I found the 2 silvers. This is actually the same foundation where I found a Morgan dollar and 2 Barber halves a few years ago.

After the hunt I sat down by the stream, lightly cleaned my discoveries and had a moment of thanks :notworthy:
(Sorry for the poor quality and filming technique of the video but I'm just lucky I was still speaking English after that discovery!)
Happy Hunting!

Wow, your post took second fiddle to the Lord Baltimore Six Pence found by Bill, but your two big silvers in one hole is a banner worthy find!

I agree, wholeheartedly! I think that it's a real shame that some finds don't get up there, simply because they're playing "second fiddle".

We are getting much too spoiled on this site. If we're going to have a "banner" recognition that HAS to be voted on. Someone finds a "lesser" find, like, say, a stupid old copper from the 1600's. The 1916-d merc that was found the same day "might" get "banner" while the 1600 will become a "nice find, way to go". :dontknow: I think the Mods should consider making the "banner" just one more decoration on the site that they control, and not dependent on how many friends can vote. IMHO, of course.

Thanks guys! I don't mind taking back seat to Bill D's AMAZING find but yes it would be nice to be recognized as far as a banner goes. I can jut hope that the thread stays alive long enough so that can happen. Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

Thats awesome Ben! congrats on 2 huge hunks of colonial silver!

What a thrill that must have been to recover huge early silver coins - two of them. That's tremendous. Congrats on a great hunt!

Wow... Congrats on a SERIOUS TWO-fear!

Thanks for all the kind words and votes! Looks like it hasn't quite made the banner but I sure am happy with my finds either way

Just put in my nomination. Beautiful coins and certainly worthy of recognition. Good luck with the banner!!
