Definitely a big button there. More likely 18th century too.

Nice find - like the others said - show the back as it is likely late 18th century.

Nice one! Good luck out there:treasurechest:

as stated 1780s, not 19th C - for the button that is.

Yes I agree. Could be 18th century as we have found many 18th century relics in the area. More pics of back to follow after i get home from work

Not could, is 18th C, they never produced them post about 1790 when they fell out of fashion.

They're one of the simple things I love to see show up at a new site... because here that means there's likely a decent military button to come, and possibly a Spanish silver too. Like seeing a George II copper as a sign also, but the button is a better one!

Wow! I would love to see the button holes on that coat! :)

Crusader- good info. Thank you

IP- yeah i think there's more to come from this site

More pictures of the button. Thanks for looking!HH

Be nice if I included pics I guess

The range of these fall mostly in the 1750-1780 range. Although this is the British manufacture date & it might mean a few years on top until they came over to the US. The reverse of fashion today, ie. takes a few years for your stuff to reach us...lol

Even with our rich history, I never mind finding a good Dandy Button.

that is one of the nicest flat buttons i have seen.probably a coat button.that design on face is something else

27.gif Hopefully theres more out there
