Is the split crust (?) of the rock the tell tale sign of a fire rock? Thanks

They look just like river rocks to me. What makes you think they are fire rocks? Fire rock has craters in it from where it was heated and popped.

Dollar-0 : do you hunt this area often? Do you have much luck creek and river bank Looking? I'm going to have to start this form of hunting as cultivated land is becoming scarce.

Sounds like a good place to snoop around. Good luck, don't forget to show us whatcha find..

Molly. :)

Behind those, the bank is where a humongous fire pit is
washing out. Two feet down you can even see old wood
and charcoal. Another tree held lots of them that fell in the
bank. You could fill a truck bed. Here is another picture with
the pit in the background...Heck it could be a really old farm
rock pile that was used to burn stuff. No burnt trash or glass
though. The Pit comes out 2 feet down. When going up and
down this section you don't see natural deposits. Just slit.
