Today, I detected the banks of the James river, and as I was detecting, I spotted the tip of what looked like an arrow head in the muck. Turns out it was this big ole spear head. If you look at the second picture, you can see the faint flake marks where the ancient craftsmen, made serrations. If you take a look at the tip of the blade, you can see a crack. The patina is uniform to the rest of the blade so I’m guessing, that the crack was the final straw before the knapper gave up on it.
