Big Padlock Help

Found this these today at an 1800s site. The keyhole cove looks like
L . M & Co. Any help on dating this would be appreciated. The other thing was folded in half. HH.

plate? size? could be a rosette--what state did you find it in? civil war activity?

Definitely no civil war "activity", but the site goes back to the late 1700s.
