I went to a house built in 1825 with my hunting buddy today. I'm in the front yard when I get a nice 82-86 signal on the AT Pro. I dig a plug and about 4 inches down I see rust followed by a big square nail. I put the nail in my bag, fill the hole, stand up and swing over the hole to double check it. That beautiful signal is still there, so I pop it back open and dig down deeper. My pinpointer leads me to what I thought was a underground electrical wire. I was going to just fill it in and move on but I thought I'd better show my buddy. I call him over and as he approaches I'm moving around the dirt and see shiny silver. My buddy knew I'd found something good because I stood up and and started to celebrate. The "wire" turned out to be a dark wet root and the silver a 1920 walking half. I haven't always taken the time to double check my plugs but I'm certain I will from now on.

Awesome coin. Congrats on pulling a silver half. :occasion14: She is still on my bucket list.

Nice early walker. The same thing happened to me a few days ago with an 1892 dime. Pulled two nails out and almost walked away.

Congrats on the perseverance!

Steve

That's a sweet walker!, a lot of detail on that one!!!, my first and only half was a weird choppy signal thougth I had a can

congrats!!

Sweet find!! One of, if not my favorite coin, I'm still looking for my 1st half dollar or larger silver, hope it's a Walker or older. Congratulations on your sticking with that dig, it sure did pay off!!!

Nice going on the silver and rechecking the hole.

Super nice find. Congrats.

My fav looking coin .....congrats

Congrats on the sweet walker! I couldn't agree more with everyone's comments- it seems many to most of the goodies are going to require more work, as the "obvious" signals get scarcer. I can't tell you how many indians I find in the hole with junk- check & re-check! Keep up the great work!

I walked away from a little bitty silver and my hunting buddy didn't. He reminds me every chance he gets. I am surprised he let this chance slip by.

Congrats. great looking half.

Sweet thats a nice early Walker, don't see those out here hardly, always in 40s. :occasion14:

Great story and an awesome looking coin!!!!!!!!! Makes me think back to everything I have covered back up............:icon_scratch:

Very nice... and an early date. Well played. Congrats.

Awesome walker! Congrats!

I had 4 dimes in one hole had to keep checking and digging. Don't you just love the signals in the hole under rocks!

what? you mean this one??
lol!!!!

Good thing you double checked, or that Walker could have been the one that got away.

ALWAYS double check the hole, and if you find a second, hit it again after that! WTG ! really nice recovery. HH!

Nice story to go with an awesome find! WTG congrats to you!:occasion14:

Grats on the silver. I always recheck the hole, especially if its only crap that I've just dug up. I'm always thinking a miracle is about to happen, and some good stuff is still in there! :laughing7:
