Merry Christmas Everyone!!
I had a few hours free yesterday morning before heading over to my relatives for a holiday dinner, so I decided to make a trip to one of my favorite parks this year. I went to an area that produced 10 silvers for me on my first hunt there about 3 months ago. A couple of my Explorer buddies were with with me that day, and we also pounded this place a few more times after that. Successive trips to this area produced fewer and fewer silver, so I just put the area on the backburner, but knew someday I would go back again to give it another try. Glad I did yesterday....I was swinging my SE in an area that produced deep clad the last time I was there. About 20 minutes into the hunt, I got a good, deep signal which sounded like a silver dime. I dug, and dug, and dug. I had about an 8" hole dug, when I placed my probe into the hole, and got a good high tone...I was thinking dime all the way....I dug out a little more dirt, and in my hand I saw the rim of a large silver....Woo Hoo!!!! A 1918 Walker!! It definitely made my day. Three feet away from the walker, I got a Rosie, along with a '47 nickel and a wheatie in the same hole. After the area dried up for me, I moved to another part of the park which has produced numerous times this year. Swinging down a slope, I picked up a good signal, and recovered 2 mercs and a wheatie in the same hole.
I was more than pleased with my day. Big Silver on Christmas Eve to go with a Big Dinner that evening...
Hope everyone has a safe and memorable Christmas!!
