Merry Christmas Everyone!!

I had a few hours free yesterday morning before heading over to my relatives for a holiday dinner, so I decided to make a trip to one of my favorite parks this year. I went to an area that produced 10 silvers for me on my first hunt there about 3 months ago. A couple of my Explorer buddies were with with me that day, and we also pounded this place a few more times after that. Successive trips to this area produced fewer and fewer silver, so I just put the area on the backburner, but knew someday I would go back again to give it another try. Glad I did yesterday....I was swinging my SE in an area that produced deep clad the last time I was there. About 20 minutes into the hunt, I got a good, deep signal which sounded like a silver dime. I dug, and dug, and dug. I had about an 8" hole dug, when I placed my probe into the hole, and got a good high tone...I was thinking dime all the way....I dug out a little more dirt, and in my hand I saw the rim of a large silver....Woo Hoo!!!! A 1918 Walker!! It definitely made my day. Three feet away from the walker, I got a Rosie, along with a '47 nickel and a wheatie in the same hole. After the area dried up for me, I moved to another part of the park which has produced numerous times this year. Swinging down a slope, I picked up a good signal, and recovered 2 mercs and a wheatie in the same hole.

I was more than pleased with my day. Big Silver on Christmas Eve to go with a Big Dinner that evening...

Hope everyone has a safe and memorable Christmas!!

Thanks for looking,
CAPTN SE
Dan

Appreciate the responses, Goldiver, Bobby, Bryce, Green, Timberwolf, FITZ, and civilman!! Merry Christmas!!

You're right, Kirk, I wish I would have been able to videotape that big silver coming out of the ground. I'm "covering ground" better than I ever have.. ;D

Thanks, Kyle, for continuing to push me to get out there and find a few more before the year end....650 is definitely do-able!!

Excellent finds...I bet ya your total hits 676... excellent finds

Man, what a haul! Such a beautiful coin that walker! Congrats!

Congrats on that one Dan........big silver is nice! Do you have a hard or easy time determining whether those big silvers are cans[crushed] or coins? Does the lift the coil higher and higher technique reveal these as coins or does their size make them as detectable as crushed cans at elevated coil heights?

"reveal these as coins" = The detector stops sounding off at about 6-8 inches coil height as opposed to 8-18 inches away. If I raise the coil about 5-6 inches on a dime that is at least 4 down and the detector stops picking it up, I'd say the object is now revealed with that technique........it should be a coin.
