Hello Everyone!

Today was a very special day for me. I found a silver coin that has eluded me since purchasing my SE some 20 months ago. After recovering over 900 silver coins from the turf with my SE, I finally found a Franklin Half!! Last year, I found seated, Barber, and Walker Halfs, but not Frankie!! :'( Until today! :blob1:

Where do you think I went? Of course. The same park that has allowed me to strike a silver coin in 24 consecutive hunts with my SE Pro Coil. :occasion18: I was really surprised when I uncovered the Franklin in my plug. It sounded like a deep coin, but I was thinking wheatie all the way. Even when I got about an inch away from the coin, my probe wasn't telling me silver. :dontknow: What a shocker! I decided to end my hunt after only 90 minutes, because: 1.) It was starting to get real hot/humid, and 2.) I had found what I was hunting for.

The day started out awesome too. My first dig was the '53 Rosie, at a spot I just about gave up on because I thought it was completed stripped of the oldies. There were plenty of low conductors in this area, along with shallow clad, but I was ready to say it had been depleted of the wheaties/silver, but I knew better. I'm glad I squeezed another one from this spot.

So the final tally of keepers today after pounding this spot for the past couple of weeks was 1 '45 Merc, 1 '53 Rosie, 1 '61 Franklin Half, and 4 wheaties (40's-50's).

Don't listen to anyone who tells you a site you want to detect has dried up or is not worth hunting. There's always something waiting for you. Trust your abilities, and most of all your machine. :read2:

Next time, I will be hunting for the quarter century mark...#25!! :headbang:

Thanks for looking!

Nice job Captain. Its not every day that you see Bennys popping out of the ground. Keep the streak alive brother.

Rob

Congrats on the Franklin! I've managed to find two, and you really have to wonder why they're so scarce.

Nice going Dan. Didn't I tell you this once before though...if you would have been hunting with the settings that some of those "experts" tell us that we should be....you would find more silver ;D I mean it's obvious isn't it?...what you're doing isn't working? :D  ;D Bwa...ha ha ha ha ;D
Nice finds my friend. I'm glad to see you still pulling silver from those pounded sites. Congrats on finding a "Frankie"

Thanks, Rob!! I was very surprised!! If you get a chance to go hunting, good luck my friend!!

Excellent discoveries! Lucky and skillful!

Thanks, HunterInTheSky!!

Congrats on the WHOPPER ...

I love Big Bens ... thumbsup

ROCK ON & PERSEVERE ... Nick

Thanks, Nick!! Ole Ben finally has a home!!
Good luck, my friend!!

Congrats on the Franklin! I've managed to find two, and you really have to wonder why they're so scarce.

Thanks, Henry!! I'm sure you have more Walkers than Franklins, as I do. In the 80's those big 50's-60's silver halfs were probably easy targets to the VLF's. It's amazing anyone is still recovering them from common parks.

Nice going Dan. I have to tell you though...if you would have been hunting with the settings that some of those "experts" tell us that we should be....you would find more silver Grin I mean it's obvious isn't it? Wink...what you're doing isn't working? Cheesy Wink Grin Bwa...ha ha ha ha Grin

:D :D ;D ;D Thanks a lot, Bryce!! I've been going to that other site and just shaking my head. I could argue and get into heated discussions with all the Ferrous/AM advocates there, but I know it won't do a bit of good!! :BangHead:

That's okay, my friend!! We both know what's best for us!

24 in a row! Sure beats my 1 in a row.

Thanks, Dex378. Keep on hunting!!

Funny how sometimes the sounds fool you. Thats why I have minimal tolerance with leaving things in the ground. The amount of times I thought iron nail & dug a scrappy.

NICE JOB

Thanks, Crusader!! Appreciate the response!!

I wish there were more md'ers around here with your "dig all" mentality. I wish someone would come over to my parks and clear the first 6" of metal out of the ground. Most of the parks I go to (aside from gohers bringing up old finds), never gets plowed/turned over. The age of the item is in direct correlation to the depth of the item. If I were to try and dig every signal in the ground, I'd not only get kicked out of my parks from digging thousands of holes, I'd have less good finds because I'd be spending too much time digging all the shallow crap. Yes, there's probably some good gold rings in my parks within the first 6", but I'd rather save digging the jewelry for my local beaches. I actually find it very challenging to pick through all the shallow new money/aluminum trash to find those elusive deepies. That's why I'm out there.

Makes a lot of sense. I have rarely done parks & I'm quite happy to say off them & clear the fields which are also full of rubbish (at least anywhere that is good is).

No rubbish = no people = no treasure
