Hi all,

I got permission to MD on private property on Thursday, about 55 acres. I have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of hills to climb.
Day one I found 17 shotgun shells, 1963d quarter, and a bird leg band with the leg bone still in it. Does anybody have info on bird bands?
Thanks for looking.

Nice finds! That quarter's in pretty good shape. Betcha that bird was taken down by a raptor of some sort. Kinda creepy. How deep was the band? Maybe your states wildlife commision can steer you in the right direction...

I'm recently into bird bands myself. I think this is what your looking for.

Or type in yourself--stuart hay bird band. Let us know what he says and request the information to be sent to you. Nice find and don't forget to detect all the way around the trees on the sides of the hill. And dig it all. Roger

I think that is a neat find. Try and treat the bone to keep it from decaying. I found one many years ago and forgot about it. After looking at yours I dug out mine from a display case and guess what. All I have left is the band and a little dust.
