I'd pay $25.00 for that one. Didn't you post that one awhile back?

maybe, mine, not this one. but i have also busted a few others by finding them sold originally on ebay, but not this one. but im going on my opinion it is a guffey reproduction

Ok. Their was one on T-net 6 or so months back, that the poster wanted to know if it was real. It has holes in the bottom, and threads were visible in the holes. That one was had Popeyes, thinking back. So, you really aren't 100% sure that yours is a repo or not? Well.... I guess the $25.00 price tag may have tipped you, but sometimes people get lucky and hit jackpot on $25.00. I got a bed room suite made in the late 1700's recently for $1,000.00. I cleaned it up, and had it in my place of business, while waiting on my home to be completed. While sitting there, a lady that owned an antique shop walked in, saw it, and offered me $25,000.00 for the suite. Had I been, not dropped on my head as an infant, I'd have $25,000.00. Lol! See what I'm aiming at? Don't call it real or repo until you are pretty darn sure. You know more about bird stones than I, so you probably called it right. Still cool looking!

No I bought mine as repro from a guy that had hundreds at the Indiana huge flea market thing. They all looked the same almost

That rite there is what KILLS our hobby!!!! If the guy is makin repo's HOPEFULLY he is markin it as one. COA's don't mean sqwat, I know of a guy that make's points and get papers back on all of them. Make's me mad as hell, that's why I don't buy a thing.. If the EXPERT'S can't tell, how can I? JMHO!!!!

the experts cant tell if they are made right, but these birds once u learn them are a dead give away, p.s. i have also found a bunch of slate artifacts so i know their manufacturing paterns( they make sense these are just wild and all over the place

Trev, if you don't mind my asking, how do you normally hunt? Dig, walk water, fields.... I'm curious because you do bring some pretty rad slate pieces to the table. The part of NC that I live in is called the slate belt. Oddly named, because rarely do I ever hear of people finding artifacts like yours.

It only kills the hobby for those willing to lay down the money for the artifact then find out its fake and then re sells it instead of smashing it. It does not kill the guy out in the field like Americus who puts an effort in to building a good collection of local history. It is when you become bored and want other things you do not find that you run into slippery slopes. But then the experts will always tell you what they have bought is good cause no one wants to get ripped off and fakes are almost perfect. I have had things given to me that I questioned. My current avatar was bought. I think it a good piece because of the history of the find. I could be wrong but its mine so I hope not. I am no expert just been around it a long time.
I have seen great collections and asked about an item and they said that? Oh yeah its a fake. I got took and was papered really well for many years rolling from one big collector to another. Then I have seen collection that never see the light of day let alone posted on the internet. Nature of the beast. Trevor is right and he knows it is a fake when they have a box full of a rare items I have a popeye and all that is left is the head. It is real though,lol..... I hope.
