Well my yard work got big time rained out, so I got bored and went to the goodwill. I see the cart with the plastic tubs loaded with the stuff to put away. There's two tall 12" candlesticks in one tub for $2.49 ea. I first noticed they have a felt bottom and on the base rim, I then see stamped on the outer rim of the base that lovable Lion. No way I'm thinking it just can't be another silver score after another yesterday. They are also stamped in very small letters FILLED. They're made with thicker sheet silver than most American filled silver. So if you read this Red-Coat, this is what I found. AS within a shield cartouche as the maker, which I only so far found one image online saying Argyle Silver, but that example of mark didn't have a line over the AS like this one. The Birmingham Anchor, The Sterling Lion with a cursive letter Y in a square cut corner cartouche which I find as the date mark of 1998. These are a very stately looking pair of candlesticks and will no doubt clean up very nicely. So I now have something to do on this rainy day. I'll post how they come out looking later.

Yes, they're by Argyll (not Argyle) Silver, Sterling hallmarked for Birmingham 1998.

Good score, but you won't know how much silver you have unless they're ripped up for scrap.

I have scraped quite a bit of filled silver and I may be underestimating, but feel there's a good $150.+ in scrap in these. These are definitely constructed with more than the typical weighted silver from the US. I'm gonna save them for now and clean them up and seal them in plastic. I hope someday I can once again do some online selling again, because these could bring around $300. I believe. As for now I'm just a chronic shopper of the one man's trash that might be a treasure for me.

Awesome score!!!

Those are sweet tamrock...nice score...congrats !! Can't go wrong a 2.49$

Thanks Bart, though it be really awesome to hunt for treasure in the regions you reside, out here this searching of the thrift stores has been most effective over dredging gold and metal detecting. Still those are fun to do. There's no sunken treasure ships in these mountains, but I'm sure there's gotta be a few long lost mines and caches still in these hills waiting to be discover.

Treasure is were we find it tamrock....and you have found it...you are blessed my friend in more ways than one...cheers mate and happy hunting....take that grandson with you...thats the real treasure !!

Indeed he is the outdoors type. He'll be two in October. I'll start him out hooking some bluegill around here.
