Lars those are nice. The last 2 in the post w/the TRSS blade look very Paleo to me, how about you? :icon_thumright:

Lars -- your second and third ones could very well be paleos. :hello2:

Hopefully, Neanderthal will see them and comment.

these are a few blades I found in a cache in south AL. the large piece in the corner of the case was on top and the blades were under it . does any of you pros. know what the large piece would be

I'm not sure about the big one, almost looks like a roughed out blank carried out of the quarry site. Man, you've found alot of nice blades out of that bama material, great display there.

Yeah Shopdog some nice blades there. That big one may be a chopper of sorts. I have found a few large worked ones kinda like that.

Nice blades everyone. Wows !!

I've always called it my Wadlow blade, but I'm far from an expert.

I deffinitely like looking at the big chert artifacts, and I appreciate viewing the fine examples shared here. Below is a pic of a 3 3/4" blade/knife I found in SWPA. I'm not sure if it is made of chert or petrified wood. The white and black veins in the material run parallel to the center of the blade. The material had to be hard to work as the black and white grains are raised and could not be removed.

Looks like a Cobbs knife to me Rich. The left edge looks beveled from here...nice one.

Here are a few from various states. Largest is about 6 inches.

Very nice pieces there Road Dog, the first two from left look like finished paleo pieces to me? The third from left at the bottom looks like a paleo square knife...killer artifacts.

Thanks, the left most one is a Friday Knife from Texas. The one next to it is also Texas and super thin. The large square one is from Tennessee.

Here's one that I call simply "big blade." It's from North Florida, and is likely to be Paleo or Early Archaic Period in age. There seems to be little, if any, pressure-flaking retouch.

When I uncovered this blade, it was shiney jet-black. Over the years, the iron-rich patina has oxidized to a pumpkin-orange. You can still see traces of the once uniform black.

How does this fit with the tool typology that you collectors are using?
