Here are a couple of automatically generated videos of "our" pair of Eastern Bluebirds building their nest and raising their babies this year. This goes from the empty nest all the way to the little ones taking flight (although it didn't actually catch them taking flight).

Here's the short version with background music:

And here's a longer one with the ambient sound as it happened. The extended runtime gets you a bit more detail of the whole process.

That's fantastic to see that way, thanks for sharing it 👍👍

Nice work on the video The Eastern Bluebird is my favorite song bird And whatever comes second is not close Thankfully they have been thriving and the population is growing over the past 25 years And the main reason for that is the nesting habitat has improved to a point that the y are nesting at a higher rate of success then what had been happening in the1950's and 1960's The bluebird is a cavity nesting bird d and the competition them was taking up the best nesting spots When the general public started placing boxes designed for the bluebird to nest in the population rebounded quickly and now they are seen regularly by many So like many other species of birds the quality of the nesting habitat controls the nesting success THEQUAILTAT

We’ve got nesting bluebirds in our box now…. Took us 2 years to attract them, but it’s been worth the wait!

Some years ago I had 10 boxes in different locations I kept a notebook as I would check them once a week to record any activity such things as any eggs or young hatchlings any sign of predators birds growing big enough to leave the nest Sadly the notebook was thrown out at some time but as best as I can recall 70 some blue birds hatched and grew large enough to leave the box and maybe30 some non bluebird young also left It took some motivation to keep things in order I did not remove the nest of certain birds such as Tree swallows At the same time sparrows where not allowed to be kept up But the results made it worth my time And it was an encouraging project to under take on and see how much difference we can make if we put and effort to it While I have no info I removed some nest that where considered undesirable to me and others where left to complete the cycle even though they where not bluebirds For example sparrows where removed while tree swallows where left to nest if they where able to on their own It turned out to be an interesting idea And while it took sometime to get it going and keep it in working condition as Far as keeping the boxes clean when one hatching left and making sure it was able to be useful for a possible attempt for another nesting The cost for materials to build the nesting boxes was the only expense so it would be a cheap long term experience to do over any number of years And the kids would love it .And the quick lesson to be learned is we can influence the world around us we just need to get up and do it
