Man I wish I could make it down for that. I met him in Miami 10 years ago and had a good conversation with him about a wreck he worked in my area. He is truely a legend in the wreck diving world.

I figured they might cancel it with all the weather issues today. We are still getting winds and heavy rain bands here in PBC. Didnt want to make the 1.5 hr. drive north. Send us pics.

Weather had me opt out of going also.

Actually, I wouldn't go recommending him to newcomers yet. Do me a favor, the next time any of your guys run into Bob Marx, please ask him how the FRAUD case is coming along. A big-shot lawyer out of Melbourne, FL contacted me back in Oct. 2011 regarding this case against him whereby several local and Japanese buyers/investors are suing Marx for selling them fake artifacts.

Hey TW... What's the details on this story about Bob Marx? What artifacts were alleged to be "fake by local and Japanese investors/buyers"? I have purchased numerous artifacts from Bob in the past and would be curious to know more? I don't believe what I received was fake but am curious what types of items were in question here and was it items from a particular site or wreck? Can you explain?

Get your items authenticated by a professional.. maybe even Sedwick Coins or someone like that. I'm not sure of all the details but for sure some of the artifacts were supposed to have come from the Flor do Mar as well as other wrecks. If you want to email me I can even put you in contact with that lawyer in Florida who's handling this case against Marx. I would just put all his contact info here but I'm not sure if he would be happy if I did.

Thanks for the basics on that... I am fairly seasoned when it comes to a good working knowledge of the authenticity of artifacts, etc. and I am sure that the pieces I purchased from Bob were real according to my personal knowledge and research. I was more interested in finding out whether there was a deeper story behind the accusations and which site the supposed fake artifacts came from... I believe there had been some controversy many years back as to whether Bob ever really found the site you mentioned and this issue could stem from that. It is my sincerest hope that there is nothing to these accusations... It would be a sad day indeed if they turned out to have any merit...

This allegation was made a few years ago by TW and was debated on here, and I am led to believe all came to nothing.

Most successful salvors manage to upset a few here and there, and I am sure many claims are just made for malicious purposes, so any allegations should not be repeated until anything is proved.

Like them or not, no one can take away the achievements and hard work of the great treasure Salvors such as Marx, Fisher, Stenuit, Hatcher, Stemm etc, etc,

When any of us can come close to the effort these guys have put in, recovered a fraction of what they have recovered, published a fraction of what they have published, or took the physical or financial risks that they have took, and then say you have done all this without crossing a line, upsetting an investor, partner or team member, or never had a run in with a legislator, you can then start to think about criticising them.

Get your facts straight, dude. It's absolutely nothing to do with me. I was already anticipating this kind of reaction from a few loyal Marx fans. I had gotten wind of this by someone in Japan but didn't really know much about it until this lawyer out of Florida contacted me. The main reason why he contact me was because of the Flor do Mar project.. that was it. And NO.. WE DID NOT FIND THE FLOR DO MAR so how the HELL can he go around selling artifact from that wreck That was all I had to say to the lawyer and don't know what happened since.
