This story is sort of funny, but it did waste the time of Law Enforcement though. My wife is a Geo-Caching fanatic, I go along to walk the dog and get execise myself. I also do scouting for metal detecting and bottle digging sites. Some Geo-caches are located in parking lots some are back in the woods.

Hey,it might of saved somebodies life giving the cops something to do:laughing7:(sad but true)

That will be the next activity that is outlawed.

I knew a lady who made a big fuss about a "pipe bomb" that she saw along side the road. MY friend and I drove over to see it while she was arranging to call the bomb squad and news stations for her 15 minutes of fame. Unfortunately for her, it was only an old rusty AC compressor that probably fell out of the back of a scrap truck. The cops never even bothered to look at it and we got a good laugh out of it.

I think that news story's like this will be more frequent as paranoia and ignorance increase.

I know a few Geo-Cachers that have T-Shirts that say, We Are Not Terrorist We Are Only Geo-Cachers. You can look like you are up to no good when you are in a store parking lot looking under a soda machine or Goodwill Box trying to find a Geo-Cache.

That did look a lot like a homemade bomb to me. The person who found this thing did the right thing by calling the police. I am sure I would of too.
