Hey guys, after lurking on here for awhile I think I have something post worthy. This bottle was filled with pennies I recently picked up from my grandma's house. She claims her mother was the first one to start putting pennies in it. it was mostly filled with wheat pennies at the bottom, so I figure it is at least pre-1959. It is 13 inches high and 6 inches wide. It seems it could have been either an old wine bottle or an old oil bottle.

Anyone have an idea about this one? Thanks in advance. ;D

Hi,

I will take a newbie crack at this one.

The symbol between the small numbers is an Anchor Hocking glass mark that was used between 1937 and approx. 1977.

The "3" on the left may mean that the bottle was produced at their Winchester Indiana plant. I think that they only put year codes on liquor and beverage bottles, I don't think that is what you have. Looks more like a bleach/ ammonia utility bottle. The rest of the numbers would be plant control numbers.

Here is a chart I found on AH base marks. http://www.fruitjar.org/PlantCodes/Anchor Hocking_files/image003.jpg

Hope this helps

That is very interesting. Thanks a lot. Anyone else have any ideas?

Any value for this type of glass? I'm at a loss when it comes to glass.

The bottle appears to be machine-made, and as such would have little or no collector interest. As a curiosity or as a jar for loose change, it might be worth say less than $5.00.
