Bottle or jar closure?

Found this yesterday and put it beside a quarter for size reference. It was bigger than a quarter and bigger than a standard wine or whiskey bottle .It was a very soft metal of some sort because I bent it back into shape. Looks like it has four little circles all the way around the circumference. Thanks for looking.
